Japan is transforming space technology into commercial solutions to safeguard Earth’s increasingly crowded orbit.
Executive Vice President Ito Miki of Astroscale Japan Inc. is spearheading the ADRAS-J mission. In partnership with JAXA, this world-first project approached debris within 15 metres to prepare for large-scale removal. Ito Miki warns that debris travels 100 times faster than a bullet train, threatening vital GPS and banking services.
Meanwhile, Kurahara Naomi, Co-Founder of Infostellar Inc., is "democratising" the industry. Her software platform shares ground stations to lower costs for smaller firms. By rethinking infrastructure, Kurahara Naomi is opening the next generation of the space economy.
