Thousands of visitors gathered free tulips from a special garden in Amsterdam's Dam Square on Saturday.

Hundreds of thousands of the free flowers were available in celebration of National Tulip Day. The annual event in the city marks the beginning of the tulip season.

The Netherlands is one of the world's largest producers of these colourful flowers.
