In ‘Gen Y voices’ we get to know the stars of our recent episodes a little better. Let’s see how these millennials, living and working all over Europe, answer our set of questions, are we really all so different?

This week we spoke to Miroslav Karahuta, a member of the alternative ‘Youth Parliament’ in the Slovak City of Prešov and one of the stars of our episode My City, My Rules.

Generation Y: Who is your hero/heroine, why?

Miroslav: Every humble person who is living for others and not for themselves. A great example is Pope Francis.

Generation Y: If you could visit any country in the world, which one would it be and why?

Miroslav: New Zealand – you know, hobbits, Gandalf, Mordor and stuff … and Japan! I would love to go to Japan to experience their culture and lifestyle and to learn their language.

Generation Y: What is your dream job?

Miroslav: Anything where I can use creativity to help other people – and with enough income to not worry about my family and their needs.

Generation Y: What is your favourite saying or motto?

Miroslav: It is not a saying or motto, but a whole speech given by Charlie Chaplin in the movie Dictator. Especially this part: “In the 17th Chapter of St Luke it is written: “the Kingdom of God is within man” – not one man nor a group of men, but in all men! In you! You, the people have the power – the power to create machines. The power to create happiness! You, the people, have the power to make this life free and beautiful, to make this life a wonderful adventure.”

Generation Y: What qualities do you look for in a friend?

Miroslav: Trust.

Generation Y: Which world issue makes you angry and why?

Miroslav: Egotism. Most of the world’s issues started from the egotism of one or few people.

Generation Y: Tell us something that not many people know about you.

Miroslav: If I tell you, everybody will know!

Generation Y: If you could invite three people (dead or alive) to dinner who would they be and why?

Miroslav: Jesus Christ and Hitler – pure good and pure evil – and let them talk together. It would be awesome because Hitler would be crushed – but maybe he would tell why he did what he did – of course, nothing would change his guilt. Third person would be my girlfriend – I love her and want to be with her during this “epic fight” and every other moment in our lives.
