The Invictus Games is an international sports competition for injured war veterans. The 90-strong team of men and women, selected from more than 300 applicants, will represent Britain at the event in Toronto, Canada, this September.

They will compete in 12 disciplines: athletics, archery, wheelchair basketball, road cycling, powerlifting, indoor rowing, wheelchair rugby, swimming, sitting volleyball, wheelchair tennis, the Jaguar Land Rover Driving Challenge, and a new sport for 2017, golf.

Prince Harry, an Afghanistan army veteran himself, founded the Invictus Games in 2014, after attending a similar competition in the US, the Warrior Games.

The idea is to get injured military personnel involved in sport to prop up their self-confidence and sense of purpose.

The team will continue to train in various locations across the country as part of Help for Heroes’ Sports Recovery programme.

The Invictus Games Toronto 2017 will take place from 23-30 September.
