Real Madrid are licking their wounds after a shredding by Wolfsburg in the Champions League quarter-final first leg.

The Germans scored two first half goals in game that Real dominated, but they lacked the teeth of their opponents.

The result left coach Zinadine Zidane with plenty to ponder:’‘We had the chance to score at the very start, but what I want to do now is to watch the match and analyse it. I am not going to go crazy about it because everything we have done lately has been positive. But with this match we cannot be happy. I cannot be happy.”

Manchester City came away with a draw from Paris and more importantly two away goals, which may well prove decisive when the sides meet again in Manchester.

Paris St Germain manager Laurent Blanc admitted City played well:
“If you look at the statistics, I think we performed the way we needed to, what went against us is that technically we made unusual mistakes but maybe it’s also due to the quality displayed by Manchester City, especially up front where they demonstrated strong and efficient pressure.”
