Peter Prevc became the first man to win 14 ski jumping events in a single season on Thursday.

The Slovenia overall World Cup champion flew to the top of the podium in front of his home support in Planica on the first day of the World Cup finals.

He recorded jumps of 223 and 232.5 metres.

His current season-long tally of 2123 points is also a record.

Norway’s Johann Andre Forfang continued his fine form of late.

After winning on the World Cup circuit for a very first time last weekend in Titisee-Neustadt, Forfang produced two consecutive leaps of 226 metres to take second place on the day.

After a first round jump of 223 m ski flying expert Robert Kranjec took full advantage of the biggest hill on the World Cup circuit to deliver the longest jump of the day with 241.5 m.

That helped him reach the final step of the podium making it two Slovenians in the top three.
