Live: US president Barack Obama speaks on Iran nuclear deal

President Obama is set to make a passionate defence of the Iran nuclear deal, ahead of a congressional vote which could block the agreement.

Obama, due to speak at American University in Washington DC, is expected to frame the decision as a choice between war and peace.

Congress has been under pressure from Israeli interest groups to reject the agreement. The Israeli Prime Minister said the decision was not about war or peace, but if congress voted to approve the deal, he said it would make war more likely by sparking a nuclear arms race.
