Saturday’s 7.9 magnitude earthquake unleashed an avalanche engulfing Everest Base Camp, killing at least 17 people.

Rescue teams helped by periods of clear weather used helicopters to airlift scores of people stranded at higher altitudes but only two at a time.

But when they were brought down to the camp there was nothing left of their equipment – no tents or supplies.

The evacuation of Everest is continuing.
