Bears once kept in cages in Armenia as status symbols by wealthy owners are now recovering at a wildlife refuge in the country’s highlands.
Rescued from neglect and poor living conditions, including lack of proper food and care, the animals are being rehabilitated both physically and psychologically.
Conservationists say dozens of bears were previously held in captivity in private properties and businesses.
While some have been saved, others are still believed to remain in captivity across the country.
