Iraqi security forces fired tear gas to disperse dozens of protesters gathered near Baghdad’s heavily fortified Green Zone, where the US embassy is located.
Demonstrators had marched in support of Iran and mourned the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, killed in US-Israeli airstrikes.
Some protesters attempted to approach the restricted area before being pushed back by police.
The protest comes amid rising tensions and reported attacks by Iran-backed militias on US bases in Iraq.
