A Labrador has become the poster child of rescue efforts in the central Mexico earthquake, after it joined the search for survivors of the natural disaster.

Frida, a member of the Mexican Navy’s Canine Unit, has been helping her human colleagues to search for survivors around Mexico City, where a 7.1 magnitude earthquake claimed the lives of at least 224 people.

Throughout her short career, the seven-year-old dog has already saved 52 people from various accidents and disasters, according to the office of Mexico’s president.

Her heroic actions have made her a social media sensation, with people across the world taking to Twitter to sing her praises.

While Frida might be the most famous rescue dog in Mexico, many have also paid tribute to other members of the all-star Canine Unit who are always by her side and ready to save to save lives.
