Three central American countries got the best fireworks display of 2016, and all for free, when a giant meteor burned up in the Earth’s atmosphere in the skies over Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua.

Eyewitnesses said it flew across the sky from south to west as it disintegrated, with many posting videos of the light show online. Some reported seven distinct flaming objects.
