Whether populist or at the far end of the political spectrum, hard-line right-wing parties are making gains in Europe.

This week on Insiders we investigate why the right is on the rise.

First we visit Germany where Valerie Zabriskie meets with both leaders and supporters of the Alternative for Germany (AFD). Formed but three years ago, the AFD claims it will become Germany’s third largest party by 2017.

Next we visit Austria with Hans von der Brelie’s report of the Freedom Party (FPO). The far-right party first joined the Austrian government sixteen years ago and could possibly win the presidency in a re-run election later this year.

Finally on the topic of the far-right political shift Insiders host Sophie Claudet interviews Jean Yves-Camus, an expert on right-wing parties.
