Star Wars: The Force Awakens is undoubtedly one of the big film releases of 2015.

The latest film in J J Abrams’ hit franchise has smashed box office records in North America, where it brought in a huge $238 million over the opening weekend. Internationally its globally gross is second only to Jurassic World.

And it seems all four corners of the globe — and maybe even those in a galaxy far, far away — are celebrating, in their own way…

A seasonal tribute

With Christmas just around the corner, this video tribute has been doing the rounds of the Internet.

Canada: Leadership duties

One of Justin Trudeau’s first official engagements as Prime Minister of Canada was to watch the film with children from an Ontario hospital. Not the worst day in the office, we’d imagine!!

Germany: May the faith be with you

A church in the German capital paid its own special tribute to the film’s worldwide release.

Berlin’s Zion Church put on a special service to coincide with the opening of The Force Awakens. Pastors invited attendees to a Star Wars-themed service. The idea attracted twice as many as many people as usual to the church on Sunday, December 20.
