At the World Travel Market 2014 in London, the leading event for the global travel industry, euronews spoke to Ms Gordana Plamenac, CEO/Managing Director of the National Tourism Organisation of Serbia about how Serbia can promote itself a reputation as tourist destination, despite the bad reputation the country earned through the wars in the Balkans. Video in English.

“I just spoke to some of the journalists recently from France for instance and from Germany and I said what they would identify as the strongest assets of the Serbian tourism offer. And they both said on different occasions that hospitality is something that one does not expect but that as a fact hospitality and friendliness is the strongest asset. The image that we gained in the past 20 years really is not going in favor of what I just said but it is a fact, Serbs are really very friendly and hospitable people. Apart from Belgrade, there are mountain resorts, there are vast possibilities of activity holidays, cycling, hiking, canoeing, rafting, and this is something that we are offering. We have many mountain resorts but we also have six national parks and this is something that might be of great interest to foreign tourists.”
