As allegations of US spying on world leaders dominate the headlines, it’s fair to imagine it’s quite tough to escape Washington’s clutches.

Unless of course you’re the rather technophobic prime minister of the world’s second most populated country.

Step forward Manmohan Singh, who, because he neither owns a mobile phone or has an e-mail account, is reportedly unconcerned about the latest hacking revelations.

A spokesman for the 81-year-old’s office said: “The prime minister doesn’t use a mobile phone and he doesn’t have an email account.

“His office uses email, but he has no personal email. We have no information and no cause for concern.”
