From centuries-old temples to its famous skyline, Hong Kong is city celebrated for its historic landmarks, bustling streets and unque flavours. But what is it about this famous city that makes it so unique?
In this episode of Grand Voyager, Lilly Douse explores everything that makes Hong Kong unique, from heritage spaces to luxury hospitality. Her journey begins at Man Mo Temple, a historic place of worship full of carefully presurved artifacts. From there, she wanders the city’s streets, sampling local flavours and riding the world’s longest outdoor escalator.
Lilly boards the iconic Peak Tram up to the top of Victoria Peak, where she explores the scenic nature trails that circle the mountain. Her city experience continues aboard the famous Star Ferry, which has carried passengers across Victoria Harbour for more than a century.
But Hong Kong is more than just the city. On nearby Lantau Island, Lilly cycles off-road at the island’s purpose-built mountain biking track, before visiting a fishing village known as the Venice of Hong Kong, for its stilted houses. Her adventure concludes at the Tian Tan Buddha, one of the largest seated bronze Buddha statues in the world and a cable car ride above the island’s mountains.
Along the way, she meets local residents who share insights and guide her through the places that bring Hong Kong to life.
