LONDON -Britain's National Grid on Thursday cancelled a notice made earlier in the day, which said it expected Britain's electricity supply margin to be below a threshold needed to balance the country's energy system.

The grid operator had triggered a capacity market notice (CMN) on Thursday for 1800 local time.

The National Grid Electricity System Operator (ESO) said if safe margins for operating the power system are reduced, a capacity market notice is issued as an alert to power suppliers which are paid to make sure electricity generation is available when demand is high.

The cancellation of the request means it now expects to have adequate capacity for the period.

National Grid is responsible for ensuring supply and demand are balanced in Britain’s energy systems.
