In Denmark, vocational students are training as craftspeople, helping to fill Europe’s skills gap in the green transition.
At Northwest Zealand Vocational and Upper Secondary Education (NEG), Around 180 students are enrolled in glazing, roofing and construction, balancing classroom learning with hands-on experience.
The school is part of the 'Clever Hands for the Future' initiative, a €1.95 million project backed by the EU’s Social Fund Plus, which aims to increase enrolment in vocational education.
The scheme is one of the EU’s investments totalling €150 billion in education and skills from 2021 to 2027, with a focus on the energy and digital sectors. As Europe accelerates its green transition, the demand for skilled workers is rising sharply. From installing energy-efficient windows to constructing sustainable housing, these students are preparing for tomorrow's jobs.
