The Vatican reports that Pope Francis spent a quiet night from Friday into Saturday and is resting, as he enters his fourth week in Rome's Gemelli hospital.

On Friday, Vatican sources reiterated that Pope Francis is stable, but his condition is complicated, which is why the prognosis is uncertain. A medical update is expected on Saturday afternoon with more details on his progress.

Pope Francis hospitalised for double pneumonia

At the Pope's request, the Vatican press office continues to share updates on his treatment. He is still receiving oxygen through "mechanical ventilation at night with a mask and oxygenation at high flows during the day, through cannulas in the nose," according to Vatican sources.

On Friday, the Pope, with hospital staff's help, prayed for about 20 minutes in a small chapel near his room at the Gemelli hospital. He then worked and continued treatment for bilateral pneumonia.

Throughout the day, hundreds of people prayed for the Pope outside the hospital, and in the evening, they joined a prayer in St. Peter's Square. The day before, on Thursday, the Pope shared a message thanking people for their prayers.
