The 32nd Annual Actor Awards – formerly SAG Awards - took place on Sunday in Los Angeles and saw ‘Sinners’ win big and confirm its momentum two weeks prior to the Oscars. Here’s everything you need to know.
The 2026 Actor Awards, formerly known as the SAG Awards, saw Ryan Coogler’s vampire horror film Sinners triumph and signal that everything is still up for grabs at the upcoming Oscars in two weeks time.
Michael B. Jordan took home the Best Actor award, confirming the shift in momentum for Sinners as Timothée Chalamet was seen as the favourite to win.
"I don't even know where to begin, I wasn't expecting this at all," Jordan said in his speech, adding that he felt "so honoured and privileged" to have been nominated.
Additionally, the cast of Sinners won Oustanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

Until now Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another has largely swept the board, collecting top honours at the Golden Globes, the Producers Guild Awards, the BAFTAs and the Directors Guild Awards. The film, Euronews Culture’s top film of 2025, was nominated for seven awards but only nabbed one trophy for Sean Penn’s performance.
Considering the Actors Awards is one of the most closely followed precursors to the Academy Awards, the race is wide open for Best Film. Sinners heads into the Oscars with 16 nominations – the highest number for any film in Academy Awards history. One Battle After Another follows with 13 nominations.
Elsewhere, Jessie Buckley continued her awards sweep by taking home Best Actress for her performance in Hamnet, and Amy Madigan won for her deliciously creepy / camp performance in one of last year’s best horror films, Weapons.
"It's such an honour to be here, I've been doing this a long-ass time," laughed the 75-year-old actress. "Gladys has surprised me because she's getting a lot of love back," she said of her Weapons character.
Madigan lost momentum in awards season after winning a Critics Choice Award early on. She missed out at the Golden Globes and was not nominated for a BAFTA. However, this Actor Award win gives her a last-minute boost of momentum for the Oscars.
An emotionally charged moment came when the late Catherine O’Hara won a posthumous award for her work on the series The Studio.
O'Hara died at the age of 71 on 30 January from a blood clot in the lungs. The crowd at the Shine Auditorium in Los Angeles stood in a standing ovation for O'Hara after she was announced as the winner. The show’s creator, Seth Rogan, delivering a heartfelt speech when he accepted the award on her behalf.
"She really showed that you can be a genius, and be kind, and one of those things does not have to come at the expense of the other,” said Rogan. "Something I've been marvelling at over the last few weeks was her ability to be generous and kind and gracious while never minimising her own talents, and her own ability to contribute to the work we were doing."
O’Hara’s win was one of several for The Studio, along with Best Comedy Ensemble and Best Comedy Actor for Rogen.
Another big winner of the night was medical drama The Pitt, which won Best Drama Ensemble and Best TV Drama Actor for Noah Wyle.
Harrison Ford won the lifetime achievement prize after a six-decade career.
"It's a little weird to be getting a lifetime achievement award at the half-point of my career," the 83-year-old joked. "It's a little early isn't it?"
"Being able to deliver the work we create together to an audience is an honour and a privilege," he continued. "And because of that privilege, I've come to know myself. This is a tough business to get into. In my case it's been a tough business to get out of, thank god, because I love what I do."
Ford concluded: "I'm a lucky guy, lucky to have found my people, lucky to have work that challenges me, lucky to still be doing it. I don't take that for granted."
The Oscars take place on Sunday 15 March.
