Police in southern France are searching for two theives who stole "four works of art" from a museum dedicated to French impressionist Auguste Renoir, dropping one as they fled.

Two thieves are being hunted by police in southern France after they broke into a museum dedicated to French impressionist painter Auguste Renoir, stealing "four works of art", dropping one as they fled.

According to the local mayor of Cagnes-sur-Mer Bryan Masson, the pair were "spotted thanks to the town's video surveillance cameras... abandoning one of the stolen paintings as they ran."

It's thought the haul of the stolen good is worth around €9 million euros.
