In a harrowing amateur video, released by the Syria Civil Defence (the White Helmets), a boy can be seen crying over his mother’s dead body in Aleppo.

According to the rescue service, this footage was filmed on Wednesday in Job Al Quba, in the east of the city, after a military strike on the rebel-held area.

Civil Defence workers say that more than 45 people, mostly women and children, were killed in the attack as they fled “certain death”.

The young man explained:
“We were leaving from Maadi and Asila, we gathered at Maadi and then we all left together.”

“My mother was carrying some things, then we suddenly heard the strike, we ran here, we came to see them. I found my mother dead,” he continued.

Local civil defence officials claim that more than 739 civilians have been killed and hundreds more injured in regime attacks on eastern Aleppo since mid-November.
