He made his mark on the Netherlands as a player, now Ruud Gullit is hoping to make his mark on the national team from the sidelines after being appointed assistant coach.
Gullit has agreed to join the coaching staff of the Dutch national team after being asked to play a role by head coach Danny Blind.
On the staff he will replace Dick Advocaat, who quit last week to take over at Fenerbahce.
Gullit, who won 66 caps for the Netherlands and was a part of the winning Euro 88 side, has a far from impressive managerial background, though, following ill-fated coaching spells at Chelsea, Feyenoord, Newcastle United, LA Galaxy and Terek Grozny in Russia.
