Police sealed off the Maxvorstadt neighbourhood of the Bavarian capital as they searched the building.

Special police officers wearing night vision goggles were visible at the scene.

The road outside was blocked with emergency vehicles.

Investigators have said there is no sign of other attackers being involved in the shooting.
