The second seeded Scott outplayed defending champion Stan Wawrinka in four sets (6-4 6-2 4-6 6-2).

In Sunday’s showpiece match he will meet world number one Novak Djokovic who comfortably saw off Austrian 13th seed Dominic Thiem (6-2 6-1 6-4).

Both Murray and Djokovic are hunting a first Roland Garros title.

Women’s world number one Serena Williams remains on track for a 22nd career grand slam title to equal Steffi Graf’s haul.

The American battled past Dutch player Kiki Bertens 7-6, 6-4 to set up a French Open final against Spain’s Garbine Muguruza who was in fine form in her semi sweeping aside former finalist Sam Stosur of Australia 6-2 6-4.
