An Italian aid worker has been shot dead in Bangladesh. 50-year-old Cesare Tavella worked for a Netherlands-based NGO.

He was gunned down in Dhaka’s diplomatic quarter.

A statement has been posted online, claiming responsibility in the name of the self-titled group Islamic State.
