Slovenia’s Peter Prevc produced a stunning performance to break the ski jumping world record in Vikersund, Norway.

The 22-year-old cleared 237.5 metres on his first attempt before travelling a full 250 metres to collect a winning total of 239.9 points.

This piece of individual brilliance sees Prevc break Johan Remen Evensen’s previous world record of 246.5 metres, which was set on the same slope three years ago.

Norway’s Anders Fannemel recorded 424.3 points to take silver with Japan’s Noriaki Kasai having to settle for third place.

Prevc now leads the overall World Cup standings with 1250 points, 42 points ahead of Austria’s Stefan Kraft.
