About the 2011 WISE Summit - November 1-3, 2011, Doha, Qatar

Launched by Qatar Foundation in 2009 under the leadership of Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) is an international, multi-sectoral forum for creative thinking, debate and purposeful action to seek innovative solutions to educational challenges.

Under the theme of “Changing Societies, Changing Education”, the 3rd edition of the WISE Summit will gather over 1,000 thought leaders and practitioners from multiple sectors worldwide to explore interactions between education and other sectors, tackle challenges of development and growth, and shape effective change in education.

The Summit is a unique forum for those who believe that the elaboration and implementation of new ideas, and the replication and adaptation of best practices in education is the best way to secure a prosperous future for individuals and societies in all parts of the world.

About the WISE Initiative

Besides the annual Summit, WISE is a permanent platform for collaboration in building the future of education, through a growing number of programs:

  • The new WISE Prize for Education is the first major annual international Prize of its kind, rewarding an individual or a team for an outstanding, world-class contribution to education. The Laureate’s work should have had a significant, lasting impact at any level of education. The first Laureate, to be announced at the next WISE Summit, will receive $500,000 and a gold medal.
  • The annual WISE Awards are designed to showcase and promote innovative on-the-ground educational projects from across the world, and from all educational sectors, that have made a positive impact on societies.
  • A major web-based platform (www.wise-qatar.org), which provides people interested in education-related issues throughout the world with an opportunity to share ideas and best practices, form new alliances and build a global WISE community
