‘‘From Coraline To Kubo’; A Magical Laika Experience. That’s the title of an exhibition which has returned to Universal Studios in Hollywood.
Movie fans are getting the chance to take a close up look at the artistic detail and imagination behind the acclaimed animation studios movies.
The exhibition features a look at several Laika films, including ‘Coraline’, ‘ParaNorman’, ‘The Boxtrolls’ and ‘Kubo and the Two Strings’.
‘You know millions of people have seen our films and they would love to see what our puppets look like up close and personal and here they have the opportunity to do it,” said Mark Shapiro, Laika Studios Marketing and Brand Manager.
In the exhibition you step into the world of movies. You will see a variety of props from many of the films. There are the sets and of course the puppets and miniature characters. You will also get a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes in a series of videos.
‘There are so many little intricate details that you don’t really think about when you are seeing a movie that you just kind of get immersed in the story and just sort of what’s happening and so seeing the art behind it I was really fascinated by it,” enthused Megan Cassingham who visited the exhibition.
Laika studios latest offering ‘Kubo And The Two Strings’ was recently nominated for a Golden Globe. The film tells a story of a young boy named Kubo who must locate a magical suit of armour worn by his late father in order to defeat a vengeful spirit from the past. The stop motion film is directed by Travis Knight.
