Greece’s Minister of Defense has told euronews he is confident that his centre-right New Democracy party is still capable of turning the tables and winning the country’s general election, to be held on January 25. Nikos Dendias’ comments come despite latest opinion polls that appear to suggest a stable lead for the left-wing SYRIZA party.
He bases his claim on the fact that more than 10% of the electorate is still undecided on its voting intentions, and asserts that most of these ‘floating voters’ are likely to vote for New Democracy.
Commending on the state of the economy, Dendias says that Greece should continue on the path of reform if it is to exit the current crisis for good.
He also accuses SYRIZA of lacking a concrete economic program and rules out the chance of Greece exiting the Euro currency.
