At least 129 men, women and children are feared dead after an overloaded boat sank in Lake Tanganyika in the south-east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Over two hundred survivors, mostly men,
were picked up, many of whom had survived by clinging to wreckage.

The overloading and strong winds are being blamed for the accident. The figures have been dramatically scaled up since initial reports.
