People ring ring a bell for 2 minutes to bring communities together against the virus

Video. Christmas Eve Jingle: Britons gear up to spread festive cheer

Updated:

The initiative, named the "Christmas Eve Jingle", was launched in October by Mary Beggs-Reid, as a way for her local community in Harrogate, northern England, to celebrate the holiday together despite measures in place to combat the spread of the deadly pandemic.

People around Britain are expected to come out onto their doorsteps at 7pm CET and ring a bell for 2 minutes.

It's part of an initiative to bring communities together when the coronavirus has changed Christmas for so many.

Boris Johnson and his partner Carrie Symonds will participate from No. 10, the prime minister's official residence.
