Historic boats parade along Venice's Grand Canal as crowds gather near Rialto Bridge for the annual Regata Storica and rowing celebrations.

Venice’s Grand Canal came alive on Sunday as historic boats sailed through the heart of the city for the annual Regata Storica.

Large crowds gathered along the waterfront and near the Rialto Bridge to watch the colourful procession of decorated vessels, a celebration of Venice’s rich maritime heritage.

The historic water parade was followed by traditional rowing competitions, attracting visitors from around the world.

Spectators praised the boats, their vibrant colours and the rowing crews, with one visitor describing the event as a celebration of “the Venice of the past and the Venice of today.”
