Locals cover one of the animals in garlands and feed it tasty treats at the ceremony which takes place every year in Karachi.

According to the Sheedi community, the saint Khwaja Hasan set up a Sufi order in the thirteenth century. Since then, devotees have been flocking to the festival on the saint's birthday. They come to the shrine barefoot to seek blessings and make offerings.

The festival mixes local traditions with music and dance inherited from the Sheedi's African ancestors.
