Smart Regions speaks to teachers in Hungary about a new EU programme helping schools save energy.
The Energy@school programme in Central Europe is available free of charge for any European educational establishment that wants to save energy and spread the word. Headteacher Ildikó Csiszárná Zakarat from Újszilvas primary school in Hungary explains.
"It works on several levels. First of all, it has been implemented into the different subjects, in physics, chemistry, and the social sciences.
"There were many funny stories, especially at the beginning, when we didn't know, neither we, nor the children, nor the parents, what was behind this investment. There were some strange questions, for example: how does hot water come and who heats it? And what does that mean? But now we laugh about these issues.
"We are pleased to see that the senior students make very serious slideshows of all the activities we do here and they bring them to the college too, to show where we are now, so the sharing of knowledge continues inside the college as well."
