Libya and the Sahel region are at the heart of the European Union’s efforts to respond to refugee arrivals from the Mediterranean.

Some commitments target the smugglers’ economic model, others aim to support the Libyan authorities to control its borders with its neighbors in the Sahel.

The European Commission welcomes the work of journalists, as it denounced threats against the Brussels correspondent of a Polish private television station, accused of wanting to infringe on Warsaw.

It is part of ongoing tension between the Commission and the Polish Conservative government, on the rule of law in the country.
