Mini EU summit takes place in Ventotene, the island where Altiero Spinelli wrote his manifesto for a 'free and united Europe'.

Brexit, the ongoing migrant challenge, high unemployment, Islamist attacks, relations with Russia and Turkey – some of the topics to be tackled by the leaders of the EU’s three biggest countries as they meet for the second time since the UK voted to leave the EU.

In an attempt to rekindle the European spirit, Angela Merkel, Francois Hollande and Matteo Renzi met in Ventotene, the island where Altiero Spinelli wrote the same manifesto that is considered the basis for European federalism.
