Britain picks diplomat to fill top EU post

Britain has nominated the country’s ambassador to France, Julian King, to take over its vacant seat at the European Commission.
Jonathan Hill, the previous UK commissioner, resigned after the British electorate voted to leave the EU.
He will stand down next Friday.
