He has styled Gigi and Bella Hadid, Imaan Hammam, Kendall Jenner, and worked for the biggest fashion magazines in new-stands around the world. Behind his big afro and aviator eyeglass frames, Stefano Greco is not your average hairstylist. This Swiss-Italian coiffeur travels the world all year round to style some of fashion’s top fashion shows and editorials.

Why did you choose to work in fashion rather than in a salon?

I have worked in salons for more than ten years, and from time to time I still do! You can spot me at Mizu, in New York, now and then. But after a decade as a hairdresser, I wanted to do something more creative, work on photoshoots for magazines, style models for fashion shows. With this change in my career, I have been able to work with world-renowned magazines such as Vogue, Elle, V Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar – and collaborate with the most famous models such as Gigi and Bella Hadid, Imaan Hammam, Kendall Jenner…

Which fashion designers do you enjoy working with the most?

I love working on Margiela shows. Thom Browne, Yohji Yamamoto and Haider Ackermann shows are amazing too. Over the last women’s fashion week (Fall/Winter 2018/19), I love the hairstyling they chose at Comme des Garçons and Alexander McQueen.

What are your inspos? Which instagram accounts do you follow for hairspiration?

Eugene Souleiman is my main inspiration and mentor. I have been working with him during fashion week for several years now. He has styled so many campaigns for Hermes, Givenchy, Calvin Klein, Balenciaga, Fendi, Lanvin, Hermes, Guerlain… He’s also the current Global Creative Director of Care & Styling for Wella Professional, a German hair care brand.

Any fashion week hairstyle tip for our everyday look?

Most girls struggle with baby hair! A quick solution to tame them is to put some hairspray on a toothbrush and go trough your baby hair slowly and gently.

Since summer is coming, what would be your advice to protect our hair from sun damage?

The Mr. Smith products are really efficient. To protect your hair this summer, you should definitely use the Hydrating Shampoo & Conditioner and if you need something a bit more heavier, add some of their Serum to your treatment. To be honest, it’s the new brand I’m crazy about! Their Foundation Cream and Shaper – a very new substance – are amazing. I have never used such products before, it gives great texture and shape. And in addition to all that, it’s vegan: this Australian brand uses local botanicals and essential oils and have never tested on animals!
