He has 1 million followers on Instagram and plenty more on his other social media accounts including his famous YouTube channel. That’s because Tim Burton aka Shmee150 is the absolute reference when it comes to supercars and fancy road-trips around the world. Living it sat down on the passenger seat – so to speak – to understand how this Londoner with a background in online electronics and contagious enthusiasm became the ultimate automotive influencer.

“It all started in 2010, with a simple YouTube video of a Ferrari 458 Italia and Lamborghini LP670-4 Superveloce, and 500 subscribers. Today, we make it look very easy but I have a team of 9 people working with me full time to make this happen. My goal? To share the positivity and excitement that comes from being around supercars,” explains Burton.

One good example is the video below in which he brings us into one of the most amazing garages, courtesy of his friend @gercollector, that includes a McLaren P1, Ferrari F40 and Mercedes SLR Stirling Moss, a Lamborghini Aventador SV Roadster with custom exhaust, and more.

“Through my videos, I get to do a lot of different road trips and drive a lot of different cars. In September last year I did one that lasted 9 days in the Balkans passing by Croatia, Bosnia and Montenegro, with my team driving three of my cars, a McLaren, a Ferrari and a Porsche. It was one of my best so far, a very special moment for me”.

When asked about what would be the ultimate super car, Burton can answer without the slightest hesitation: it would have the looks of an Aston Martin One-77, the sound of a Lexus LFA, coupled with the driving feeling of a Ferrari F50 and the bespoke experience of a Pagani. Pretty precise.

“At the end of the day supercars aren’t completely unreachable depending on a person’s commitment and enthusiasm. As in many careers, hard work and dedication will get you to the top.”

But not as good as his latest car discovery, a Ford Focus RS, he bought himself last year. “It has opened my eyes on how a car should be more about how fun, engaging and nice the driving experience is than how flashy it is,” he says. In the past Burton has driven a Renault Clio 1.2, but more recently a McLaren 675LT Spider and a Ferrari FF.

Burton left school at 18 after completing A-levels. Previously, he worked in electronics and as a ski instructor in New Zealand. Upon his return in the UK, working in the technology team of an investment consultancy in the City of London, he contemplated the dream of living the supercar life – his eternal passion.

A lot of people ask him how they can own a supercar, especially the youngsters on social media. “At the end of the day supercars aren’t completely unreachable depending on a person’s commitment and enthusiasm. As in many careers, hard work and dedication will get you to the top,” is his general answer.
