While immersive exhibitions have become synonymous with overpriced gimmicks, the Lightroom in London's new David Bowie show stands out; utilising rare footage of the singer on 360 screens to create a uniquely intimate experience that feels almost like walking through Bowie's mind.

Elsewhere, Paris's Grand Palais is hosting a spectacular retrospective of American photographer Nan Goldin's works, while the long-awaited Michael Jackson musical biopic will be moon walking its way into a cinema near you.

Here are this week's highlights.

When: Until 21 June 2026

Where: Grand Palais (Paris, France)

A master at capturing peoples' inner-worlds, American photographer Nan Goldin's works have a uniquely raw, intimate quality that's endlessly captivating. For this vast new retrospective, the Grand Palais brings together six of Goldin's major works, including two of her most famous collections: 'The Ballad of Sexual Dependency' (1981-2022) and 'The Other Side' (1992-2021). When viewed together in dialogue with the space, the exhibition becomes a life-affirming celebration of all life's dark, strange and ironic beauty. Find out more here.

When: 22 April - 10 October 2026

Where: Lightroom (London, UK)

An ultimate for Bowie fans, London's interactive Lightroom space is hosting one of the most immersive tributes yet. Featuring his most famous performances, rare interview footage and other never-before-shown material, it's a multimedia spectacle that transports visitors inside the creative mind of one of the world's greatest pop stars. Find tickets here.

Bonus highlight: Berlin Gallery Weekend, one of Europe’s biggest Spring art events, takes place from 26 to 28 April. Find out more here.

Movies

Michael

Where: Cinemas

When: 24 April

Ow! Michael Jackson biopic? Shamone! It's one of the most highly-anticipated movies of 2026 - and one of the most controversial too. Directed by Antoine Fuqua (The Equalizer, Training Day), it stars the King of Pop's real-life nephew Jaafar Jackson in the titular role and follows his rise to fame in the Jackson 5, career highs and personal lows. Expect thrilling performances, spectacular costumes and a potentially sanitised depiction of the troubled musician's life - any of the child abuse allegations were reportedly edited out with reshoots that cost $10 (€8.5) million

Bonus highlight: Japanese horror Exit 8, about a young man lost in an endless subway tunnel, is out in select cinemas across Europe now.

TV series

Half Man

Where: HBO Max

When: 23 April

Richard Gadd, the creator of 2024's Netflix hit Baby Reindeer, returns with another gritty TV show - this time about a violent reunion between two estranged men. The six part series stars Jamie Bell as Niall, whose wedding is disrupted by the arrival of his old friend Reuben (Gadd), forcing an explosive confrontation with their troubled pasts. Told through flashbacks throughout the 80s to the present day, it's a tense family drama that explores themes of sexuality, masculinity and brotherly bonds.

Bonus highlight: We all knew Stranger Things wouldn’t be gone for long, and sure enough, there’s an animated spin-off hitting Netflix on the 23 April: Stranger Things: Tales From '85.

Music

Foo Fighters: Your Favorite Toy

When: 24 April

The 12th studio album from American rockers Foo Fighters, 'Your Favorite Toy' arrives after the band took a three year hiatus and introduces new drummer Ilan Rubin. Lead singer Dave Grohl has described the album as a return to "the old days" with lots of "noisy, loud bangers" and retro, 70s-style "glitter metal". At 10-tacks long, it's also their shortest studio release yet. But if the singles released so far are anything to go by, fans can anticipate plenty of old school Foo energy that's layered with percussive punch and grungy guitars - exactly what's needed to wake you up for the week ahead.

Bonus highlight: Canadian indie band Metric will release their tenth studio album, 'Romanticize the Dive', on 24 April.
