Abu Dhabi has opened the Middle East’s largest Natural History Museum, unveiling an ambitious journey through 13 billion years of Earth and cosmic history with rare fossils, immersive experiences and major scientific collections.
Visitors are welcomed by a towering family of sauropods as the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi opens its doors, offering what curators call a space designed to spark curiosity for all ages.
The museum spans the creation of Earth, evolution of life and deep-space origins, featuring exceptional specimens such as “Stan,” one of the world’s best-preserved T. rex fossils, alongside a touchable moon rock and a 25-metre whale skull.
Among the rarest objects is the Murchison meteorite, a 4.5-billion-year-old space rock known for its distinctive scent. Rotating exhibitions, including the first-ever discovered herd of Triceratops skeletons, add to the evolving programme.
With research, programming and community science initiatives, the museum aims to inspire environmental awareness and connect past and future generations.
