The Greek Prime Minister has again urged Greeks to reject new bailout terms in Sunday’s referendum.
In a televised address Alexis Tsipras described as blackmail the plans proposed by the country’s creditors saying they would only prolong the debt crisis.
“No doesn’t mean going against Europe. It means returning to the Europe of values,” said Tsipras.
“I call upon you to empower this negotiation process. I call upon you to say no to the memorandum recipes that are destroying Europe. I call upon you to reply positively to the perspective of a viable solution. To turn to a bright page of democracy,” he added.
Tsipras also stated he has no secret plan to pull Greece out of Europe if the country votes in favour of the bailout plan, accusing people of lying over his intentions. He mentioned no names in his speech but his comments were clearly aimed at senior EU officials.
