Several gondolas have collided on a cable car at the Austrian ski resort of Kaltenbach in the Tyrol.

No one was injured as the lift was closed to the public at the time due to high winds. The severe weather is thought to have been the cause of the incident.

The lift — the Wimbach Express in the Hochzillertal ski area — was opened earlier this year to replace a chairlift.

The cable car has a capacity of 2,620 people per hour, allowing new ski runs to be opened in the area.

The five cars appear to have collided due to one or more of them becoming stuck, although no details have been released. Authorities are investigating the incident.
