Poppies floated down from the ceiling of the Menin Gate war memorial in Belgium on Sunday during a ceremony marking the 100th anniversary of the ending of the World War I.

The memorial is dedicated to British and Commonwealth soldiers who died fighting around Ypres during World War I.

Its ceiling lists the names of more than 54,000 soldiers who died before 16 August 1917 and have no known grave.
