Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi was in Mosul on Wednesday to reopen a vital bridge destroyed in 2016 during the fight against ISIL.

The bridge - known as the 'old bridge' or 'iron bridge' - is an essential artery linking the two sides of the Tigris river in central Mosul.

The city was devastated after three years under ISIL control.

It's been in the process of rebuilding since the group's ouster last July.
