We travel to Latvia to meet exciting fresh talents transforming Riga and region in a culinary hotspot.

Riga and the Gauja region in Latvia were awarded the prestigious title of European Region of Gastronomy this year. This enough sparked our curiosity, as we couldn’t quite decide what Latvian cuisine really meant in our minds.

A two-hours plane ride later followed by a bumpy drive across the caramel-colored forest countryside led us to Annas Hotel, a confidential design boutique hotel and spa. Our first stop was to meet Head Chef, Dzintars Kristovskis, who has just joined, and shares his success story.

Next we drive to Riga, the capital, to meet sommelier Raimonds Thomsons. This year, he was chosen to manage Vincents restaurant, the most famous gastronomic restaurant in the city where prominent figures including Elton John, Queen Elizabeth and Paul Bocuse once dined.
