"From CD Tenerife, we announce the tragic passing, this Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 8:00 am, of Jesús de Miguel Alameda," the club said in a statement.

De Miguel was challenging for the ball in midfield during Monday’s match when he was struck in the chest by Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono during the final minutes at Estadio Heliodoro Rodríguez López.

The 30-year-old player was taken to hospital and the match, tied 2-2, was suspended in the 108th minute.

Tenerife initially reported in a statement that he was “stable, despite the severity of his condition,” in the intensive care unit of the Hospital Universitario de Nuestra Señora de Candelaria in Santa Cruz.

The club said in a statement that it was "heartbroken."

Since making his debut in 2015 with Leganés B, de Miguel played for eight other clubs in Spain, including Tenerife, where he arrived last year.
