The driver, who was arrested at the scene, reportedly told police he wanted to kill himself and the incident is not being treated as an act of terror.

A 13-year-old girl has been killed and 12 people injured in a village east of Paris after a car crashed into a pizzeria.

The driver of the BMW that rammed the terrace of the cafe in Sept-Sorts, near La Ferté-sous-Jouarre, was arrested, according to French media.

According an interior ministry spokesman, the 32-year-old French man had tried to kill himself three days previously

RTL radio reported that he had weapons with him in the car.

The incident is not being treated as an act of terror and the driver has no previous criminal record, the radio station said.
